My Sister Myself
This project was conceived shortly after my mothers sudden death from cancer in1989.
It was foremost a tribute to her and became an integral part of the grieving process. This was a collaboration with my youngest sister Lynette, who brought her enthusiasm and creative spirit to the initiative. Our intent was to explore our relationship as siblings, but also as children within the context of the larger family. It evolved into a theatrical interplay in which the chosen environment played a key role. The visual dialogue attempted to further a discussion about gender, aging and death in the family narrative.
How do we mourn, and what role do photographs play in that process?
